brick, tile, concrete, stucco, wood, E.I.F.S., stone, metals, granite, split face block,
etc. It can be used on walls, signs, statues, sculptures, restroom partitions, interior
day care and school walls. In fact, any surface that is a potential target for graffiti.
GRAFFITI-PRUF works as a barrier between graffiti and the underlying surface. Washing
or spraying the surface with hot water melts the barrier, eliminating the graffiti.
Graffiti removal and re-application of Graffiti-Pruf is fast and simple. Using a power hot
water sprayer or GPR-1 and cold water the user can clean and re-protect 100 sq. ft. of
wall surface in about 10 minutes.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
EQUIPMENT:
The equipment suggested to apply and remove GRAFFITI - PRUF is as follows:
(A) Airless Sprayer providing a minimum of 1500 psi through a tip appropriate for the
surface being sprayed.
(B) Hot Water Pressure Washer. The washer must be capable of sustaining a water
temperature of 170 degrees F., at the tip, at a pressure of between 300 and 1000 psi. A
water flow of at least 2.2 gallons per minute is recommended.
(C) Water Supply. Carry a tank of water if on site water is not available.
(D) Paint Brush. A poly-foam brush is generally preferred, and is also used to brush
out build ups and drips.
(E) Paint Roller. A roller suitable for use with water base paints should be used.
Rollers should only be used on smooth surfaces or to remove runs from rough textured
surfaces.
(F) Power Generator. For providing power to the airless spray and to the pressure
washer, if they are not self powered. The full load draw of a typical pressure washer is
at least 20 amps. Minimum requirements are usually 4.5KW. |
APPLICATION:
GRAFFITI - PRUF may be applied to any vertical, painted or unpainted surface,
including, but not limited to, brick, tile, stone, block, split face block, stucco, EIFS,
concrete, marble, granite, wood, metal.
No gloves, masks or protective clothing are required. However, it is recommended to use
all safety precautions when using any product.
WARNING: Not for use on
horizontal surfaces.
PROCEDURES:
Recommended Method of Application:
SPRAY - All rough or textured surfaces.
BRUSH & ROLLER - Smooth surfaces.
(A) Inspect the surface to ensure that it is clean and dry and that any paint or
surface coating is in good condition. If necessary clean the surface of all dirt, grime
and oxidized paint and any other loose material. Do Not Apply GRAFFITI - PRUF over flaking
paint.
NOTE: If the surface has graffiti on it, this must be removed before GRAFFITI - PRUF
coating is applied. Ensure any new paint has adequate time to dry and cure before applying
GRAFFITI - PRUF.
NOTE: If the surface paint is flaking or cracked, all loose material must be removed
before applying GRAFFITI - PRUF. As a general recommendation, do not coat such a surface.
(B) Allow the surface to almost dry, if it has been cleaned, or if it is wet from other
causes. The surface need not be completely dry, but should not have surface water, or
water drops, on it.
NOTE: The GRAFFITI - PRUF coating will allow the surface to breath and release any
water contained within it when applied correctly.
(C) To apply the GRAFFITI - PRUF by means of an airless sprayer, hold the spray tip
about 8 - 12 inches from the surface and move it horizontally, maintaining the distance
from the surface to the limit of arm movement. Roll the wrists at the beginning and end of
each stroke so as to provide even entry and exit to the spray area. Operate the spray
trigger at the mid-point of the entry roll and release it at the mid-point of the exit
roll.
The spray gun should be held at right angles to the surface. Start at the upper level
of arm extension and do a forward and backward horizontal stroke over the same area. Move
to the bottom of the sprayed area and repeat. Continue to the bottom. Move sideways to the
edge of the sprayed area and repeat. Continue until all the surface is covered.
(D) Check for runs and areas where too much spray has been applied. These areas will
appear to be slightly milky looking. Use the paint brush & spread these areas smooth
with the surroundings.
NOTE: MORE IS NOT BETTER ! A heavier application will cause yellowing.
(E) Check to ensure all vertical grooves, and all nooks and crannies in the surface are
properly coated. A vertical spray stroke may be needed in these areas.
NOTE: The speed of the application stroke will be dependent on the absorbency of the
surface being coated, slow for absorbent, fast for non-absorbent. The only way of
determining the correct speed is by practice and experience. GRAFFITI - PRUF is effective
with one single coat, provided that coat is properly applied, with complete coverage
achieved.
NOTE: When dry, GRAFFITI - PRUF is almost invisible. If a job is being left partly
completed, it is important that the finishing point be clearly indicated. If in doubt,
coat again as any double coating will not be seen.
(F) GRAFFITI - PRUF may be applied by brush or roller. This is recommended only on
smooth surfaces. On textured surfaces, all areas may not be properly coated unless extreme
care is taken.
(G) Allow the GRAFFITI - PRUF coating to dry. Drying is by evaporation of the water in
the coating and will take from a few minutes to 30 minutes depending on conditions.
GRAFFITI - PRUF begins protecting as soon as it is dry.
Warning: GRAFFITI -
PRUF should not be applied in a high wind, when it is raining, or when the ambient or
surface temperature is below 40 degrees F. High humidity will slow drying.
STORAGE:
GRAFFITI - PRUF must not be allowed to freeze. Any material that freezes must be
discarded. Containers must be kept closed to prevent evaporation of the water in the
material. The material will withstand temperatures up to 140° F, but care should be taken
to avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight in the summer months. GRAFFITI - PRUF may
be stored for up to 36 months without excessive deterioration. |
